Wearables to assist 1 in 4 Australians suffering with anxiety

WEARABLES TO HELP 1 IN 4 AUSTRALIANS

Partnering with the Inspire Foundation, this proactive idea was developed as part of a pitch for the $500K ‘Google Not For Profit Grant’. It was a challenge to use wearables in a unique way, moving away from their dominance in the fitness arena but to assist in treatment of mental health issues affecting 1 in 4 Australians.

As the effects of anxiety are physically manifest, the wearable is able to function as a passive preventative measure by monitoring pulse and galvanic response when anxiety levels increase. The wearable then takes the sufferer through structured breathing techniques, to slow the arousal to prevent a progression into a panic attack.
